Zenith M. (Weeks) Lappa

Zenith Mae Weeks Lappa, age 92, was reunited with the love of her life, Angelo Lappa, on February 20, 2018 when she passed from this world to the next. She is survived by her son Michael (Ellen) Lappa, daughters Connie Lappa (the late Bruce Campbell) and Sharon (John) Lonczynski and son Kenneth Lappa. She was the loving grandmother of Beth (Ralph) Miller, Dianne Lappa, Colin Campbell and Megan Campbell. Also survived by the sisters and brothers as well as the nieces and nephews she loved so dearly. Preceded in death by her husband Angelo Lappa and her brother Earskin. Growing up on a farm in Virginia, she had a lifelong love for cows and their soulful eyes, even though she had to milk them early in the morning before school. She was a born caretaker and attended Lewis Gale School of nursing, becoming an outstanding nurse. During WWII she was a cadet nurse and surely the soldiers appreciated being cared for by the dark haired beauty. Despite the suitors, her heart was given to Angelo, who she married in 1947, moving to his hometown of Pittsburgh. She continued her nursing career at Mercy Hospital, taking a break to raise her children, but stayed active in civic clubs and was a charter member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Nurse’s Club. She loved being a nurse, but her true passion was her family and she adored spending time with them. She loved her children and grandchildren so much that she would say “they can do no wrong in my eyes .” Music, especially country music was important to her, with Elvis, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams ,Sr being among her favorites. As one of her favorite songs, “I’ll Fly Away,” stated, she flew away to her celestial home on a bright morning to the place where joys will never end. Visitation Sunday February 25, 2018 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road, (Route 88), South Park. Funeral services will be at 10:30am February 26, 2018 at First Bethel United Methodist Church, 5901 Library Road, Bethel Park. Everyone please meet at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
