Ronald D. Miller, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Bethel Park, beloved husband of Mary Kay Miller, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Friendship Village, age 87. He was born January 26, 1931, to Emil Miller & Ruth (Miller) Staub and was raised in Wilkinsburg. Ron received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. He also did research in chemistry at the University of Kansas. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army and for over 35 years and he was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines/Dept. of Energy as a research chemist. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by three children, David Scott Wagner (Georgina), Elizabeth Lynn Kelly (Jeffrey) and Martha Joan Vander Velde (Peter). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Victoria & Thomas Wagner; Madeline, Brendan & Aidan Kelly; Ella, Isaac and Grace Vander Velde; as well as several cousins. Ron enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and participating in the retired men's group @ Christ United Methodist Church where he was a longtime member. Ron was a dedicated volunteer at the Carnegie Science Center and for Meals on Wheels. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park, Pa 15102.
