Andrew P. Katlubeck III

1962 - 2021

OBITUARY Print

Andrew P. Katlubeck, III, of Bethel Park, on Monday, July 5, 2021, age 59, beloved son of Patricia (Ceglarski) and the late Andrew Katlubeck, Jr., loving brother of Laura (Ronnie Yarkosky), Denise Dinkfelt (Terry), uncle of Jen & Cory Dinkfelt, also aunts, uncles and cousins. Andy was a 1980 graduate of Bethel Park High School, CCAC, Penn State, Slippery Rock and Clarion State. He was a nurse practitioner for Montifiore, West Penn Hospital and Children's Hospital, where he worked tirelessly helping the children and families in the bone marrow transplant unit . One of his greatest joys was fishing with his Dad on their pontoon at Lake Arthur. For more than 25 years their "catch" was brought back to the pond at Moraine Campgrounds of which he was a member since 1972.   Andy's family would like to thank all of his co-workers and superiors for their help during his last few months. Andy's request was that there will be a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Hospital or Make-A-Wish. Arrangements handled privately by the David J. Henney Funeral Home.

So sad to hear this. Andy cared for my nephew in his last days in 1988 and he was more than wonderful. Our family still remembers him fondly after all these years.

I had the honor of working with Andy on 8N Children’s Hospital. He was such a character. He loved his “kids” and nursing. He will be sadly missed. These are very hard shoes to fill. I’m sure he was greeted at the gates buy his “Kids” with open arms. Rest easy Andy 🙏🏼💖

We had Andy as a nurse for two and a half years while our son, Daniel, was fighting his second cancer and going through two bone marrow transplants.  He was great as a nurse and great for us parents as well. He was always concerned with the care that our son was receiving even when he wasn't our nurse. Our son has survived that time and is celebrating 10 year survival because of the care that Andy and the rest of the staff at children's hospital had for him. Thank you so much.

My condolences to Andy’s family, friends, and co workers on his passing. When my grandson was a patient at Children’s Hospital, Andy went above and beyond in his care for him. Words cannot describe his wonderful compassion for children and their families. He was one of the best!

I had the honor &  privilege of hiring & then working with  Andy on the Oncology unit. He was so dedicated to the patients & families that he cared for during his years at Children's. The patients loved him. In fact, one Halloween there was a little boy who was determined to dress up as Andy. It was amazing & one of the greatest honors for Andy. I am very saddened by his sudden passing and send my sincere condolences to his family and also to the staff on the Oncology unit.
