Passed away on July 6, 2025, at The Grand Residence of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Finleyville. Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Zalagens; loving mother of Mark Zalagens (Mary), Sue Frambes (Tim), Sandy Zalagens, and Neal Zalagens (Carrie). She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Marianne Caspary (Paul), and brother William Cherilla. She is survived by her sister in law Diana Cherilla (wife of William.) She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kimber Fuchs (Matt), Joel Blanchard (Shawn), Jessica Hansen (Mike), and Casey Zalagens (Alex); and four great-grandchildren: Jude Fuchs, Dominic Fuchs, Evelyn Hansen, and Josie Hansen; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Barb's greatest treasures were her family, and friends. She made many trips across the country and around the world to spend time with them—including visits to Connecticut, California, Arizona, Germany, and Abu Dhabi. (She could take a good nap anywhere—including The Louvre!)
One of her many gifts was her sense of humor, even if it was at her own expense. She was endeared to many as Barb, Aunt Baboo, BillieJean, Babs, Gigi, Mumsy, and most recently Butsy. She loved all of them. Barb had a green thumb—plants, trees, and flowers were her passion, and she planted beautiful gardens throughout her life. She spent many hours outside in the yard. She also loved visiting the casino, another pastime that brought her joy.
Through her years of service at PNC Bank and Trax Farms, she made wonderful friends who will dearly miss her. She loved being of service—to her friends, her church (St. Francis of Assisi), and her family. If she was helping, she was happy. Her generosity, her spirit, her sense of humor, and her love will live on forever in our hearts.
Visitation Friday, September 12, 2025, from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), Library, where a blessing service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
