Carl J. Bonidie

Carl J. Bonidie, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was born on April 29, 1943, and peacefully passed away on July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. 

Carl shared 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Eileen. Together they raised three children and built a family that became the center of his life.

Carl believed that a person’s word and work mattered. He dedicated his career to the mechanical contracting industry, earning the respect of those who worked beside him and formerly served as President of ASHRAE. Retirement never quite suited him, and he continued working at a local car dealership until just a year before his passing, enjoying the friendships, routine, and sense of purpose that came with each day.

A proud Italian, Carl believed that family was life’s greatest blessing. He found his greatest happiness gathered around the dining room table over a home-cooked meal, lingering on the back porch, or spending warm summer days around the family pool. He loved family vacations to the beach, good food, a glass of wine, spirited conversation, and the traditions that brought everyone together. His home was where birthdays were celebrated, holidays were cherished, stories were told, and everyone knew they were welcome.

To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply Pap Pap. Being surrounded by them was one of his greatest joys. He rarely missed a sporting event and took immense pride in celebrating every milestone and accomplishment in their lives.

In his younger years, Carl was an accomplished saxophone player, and his love of jazz stayed with him throughout his life.

If you spent any time with Carl, you probably heard one of his stories—likely more than once. He loved telling them, and his family wouldn’t have had it any other way. Every story reflected his warmth, humor, expressive personality, and love of family. Even when everyone knew the ending, they happily listened again because hearing Carl tell the story was part of the tradition.

Carl’s greatest legacy is not found only in the years he worked or the stories he told, but in the family he loved, the traditions he created, and the countless memories that will continue to bring everyone together around the dining room table, on the back porch, and beside the pool. His love will live on every time his family gathers, shares a meal, raises a glass, tells one of his stories, or hears the familiar sound of jazz.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eileen; his children, Dr. Michael Bonidie (Tori Mistick), Susan (Ted) Tucker, and William Bonidie; his grandchildren, Cate (Jonathan) Nazarko, Angela (Nicholas) D’Amico, Matthew (Lauren) Bonidie, Isabella Seman (William Frodigh), Nicholas Bonidie (Helene Synnott) and Ana Sofia Bonidie; his great-grandsons, Luca and Liam Nazarko; his sisters; many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), Library, PA. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Louise deMarillac Church (St. Catherine Laboure Parish).
