Donna Carol Philips Ziegler
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.” John 11:25.
This verse of Scripture is one that brings comfort to those who know and love Donna Ziegler. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2020. She was 86 years old.
Born in Finleyville, Pa, on July 26, 1933 to Vernon and Olive (Zimmerman) Philips, Donna grew up in Peters Township and is a 1951 graduate of Peters Township High School. She married William Ziegler on August 14, 1954 and together they had three children.
During her working life, Donna was employed by the First National Bank of Castle Shannon for several years before starting her family. After 20 years as a homemaker, she reentered the work force serving in various capacities for the Pittsburgh Party Company, Black Box Corporation and Kaufmann’s.
Donna was a woman of faith. She was a lifelong member of the Peters Creek Baptist Church and is a direct descendant of the Rev. David Philips, the founder of the historic church in 1773. She was a prayer warrior for family and friends. A woman of kindness and compassion.
A nature lover at heart, Donna was a gardener and bird watcher. During her retirement she enjoyed trips to the zoo and aviary as well as watching nature programs on television. She had a wonderful sense of humor that was shared at every family gathering. She had an independent spirit with a can-do attitude that propelled her through good times and bad.
Donna is beloved mother of daughter, Neva Nobers (Jan), son Neil Ziegler (Gina), and Rodney Ziegler, sister of Sheryl Christina (Anthony) and the late Vaughn Chapman and Marilyn Wuenstel.
