Dorothy Ann Young Dolinar, age 89, died peacefully at home on Monday July 29, 2024.She was born March 30, 1935 in Ross Township, PA, the daughter of William J. and Sylvia C. Tilbach Young. Survived by loving husband for 68 years of Paul P. Dolinar. mother of Lisa (Brad) Ovial, Mary Beth Dolinar and Alice Pentuk (the late Richard).
Grandmother of Anthony (Yvonne) Ovial, Max Stillwagon (Ashleigh), Caroline (Scott) Golmic, Cooper Kusbit (Nikki), Grace (Cameron) Williams and Heleyna Pentuk. Great grandmother of Quinn, Ford, Julian and Jackson.
She is survived by brother William J. Young, Jr. Predeceased by sister Sylvia Malagamba and Virginia Gleason.
“Dot” graduated from West View High School in 1953, attended Duquesne University, and earned a degree in elementary education from California University of Pennsylvania in 1969. Her teaching career began that year as a vocal music instructor at elementary schools in the Ringgold School District; she later was a classroom teacher at Gastonville Elementary and Finley Jr. High. For more than four decades, she taught private lessons in her home piano studio.
She and her husband founded and performed in Too Many Tubas, a community band that played concerts at retirement facilities and community events. Dot enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, and baking. She and Paul were lifelong members of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Francis of Assissi.
Friends will be received at David Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), South Park, PA 15219 on Friday, August 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3 at St. Francis of Assissi Church in Finleyville, PA.
