Elizabeth M. (Mathewson) Scala

“The heart that truly loves never forgets.” 

Elizabeth “Betty” Scala could tell you detailed memories from any given day of her 94 years. Her stories were sweet and vibrant. They included her beloved husband, Albert Scala, and the many travels they shared. She would recall beautiful moments with her five children, Albert Scala Jr., William Scala, Laury Donegan, Robert Scala, and Janine Mendez. And she would proudly talk about her twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and all their achievements. 

Elizabeth cared deeply for her neighbors and friends in the Bethel Park community. She loved television and was never without her TV-Guide — you would not catch her missing a Kansas City Chiefs game. Writing letters was a favored pastime of hers. She loved connecting with everyone in her life and would pay attention to each and every detail. Words can’t capture just how special she was.

It is with such sadness that we announce her passing on January 31st, 2024. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Isabella Lane. She will be forever missed.
