Gary A. Crossan, of McMurray, formerly of Bethel Park, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, age 82. A rare man with a rare manifestation of a rare disease, he was the beloved husband of the late Margaret A. (Petro) Crossan, loving father of Jeffrey (Lauren) and Jennifer (Anthony Rowe), brother of Judy Ritchie (George) and grandfather of Rachel and Elizabeth.
In addition to being a husband, father, and Pap, Gary was an inventor, a tinkerer, and a real character. He was a mischievous, hilarious, and generous man who loved cars, reading, and the Rolling Stones.
Gary was a 58-year member of the Plumbers’ Union Local 27, and wherever he went, he was more interested in the valves and fittings than whatever had brought everyone else there.
He had a big heart that never fully healed after Margie left, so he did his best to fill the void with new hobbies. He designed steampunk lamps from old pipes, got into candle making, and even created his own artisanal pistachio flavors. He loved working on projects with Jeff, and he lit up every time he made Jen laugh—which was often.
Even though his time with us feels too short, we can take some comfort in knowing he’s with Margie now—where he’s sure to get an earful once she sees the tattoos he got in her honor and hears about all the mischief he’s been up to without her.
