James Frederick Pierce, Jr. "Fred", of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, age 92, beloved husband of Mary C. Pierce, brother of John Pierce (Liz), Daniel Pierce (Anne) and the late Patricia Getty (Frank), Joan Gross (Richard), Rosemary Gray (Buzz) and Nancy Erck (John), also many loving nieces and nephews. Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for a long time at JH Young Company in Carnegie.
Fred was best known for his love of sports, from supporting his beloved Mount Lebanon High School teams, to Pitt football, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he had a great passion for his favorite - the Steelers! He loved to play cards, and visit with his and Mary's large families, where he was a loving and generous son, brother and uncle to so many. But of course, his greatest passion was for his wife Mary, as they were an inseparable couple during their 66 plus years of marriage.
