On August 23, 2023, Kathleen (Kate) M. Leary, age 66, passed peacefully after a valiant struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Kate was born on June 27, 1957 in Pittsburgh to the late Richard and 
Rosemary Dempsey Leary. Cherished wife of the late William D. Hertel; beloved sister of Maureen (Milan) Mamula of Mt. Lebanon, Mary (Roy) Burford of Bethel Park, Richard Leary of Salisbury MD, Patrick (Julie Mason; June Leary, deceased) Leary of Spring Mills PA and Dr. Joseph (Beth) Leary of Austin TX; loving aunt of Emily Mamula (deceased), Christy (Chris) Rose of San Diego CA, Tricia Burford of Pittsburgh, Ash Burford of Bethel Park, Brendan (E. Annie Hall) Leary of Washington DC, Barry (Sara) Leary of Washington DC, Paul Leary of Galveston TX, Matthew and Kelly Leary of San Antonio TX, Michael Leary of Fort Worth TX, Kristen Leary of San Antonio TX and John Leary of Austin TX; great-aunt of Cooper and Hudson Rose, Eleanor Leary, Porter, William and Jacob Leary. Kate was most proud of her second career as a nurse, retiring from AHN Orthopedics in February 2020. We would like to invite our extended family and friends to come and celebrate our sister's life at Resurrection Parish, St. Thomas More Church, 126 Fort Couch Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241, on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1 st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
