Leslie "Les" J. Irvine

Leslie J. Irvine "Les", of Bethel Park, died on Thursday, January 9, 2020, age 89. Les was born April 21, 1930, in Sharon, PA, the only child of previously deceased Lela and Harry Irvine. Les was a Mechanical Engineering graduate from what then was Youngstown College in Youngstown, OH. Les spent his entire career working on unique devices for the U.S. Military. Five years as a design engineer at Bell Aircraft Corp. in Fort Worth, TX, on Helicopter control systems and an additional 38 years at Bettis Atomic Power Lab in West Mifflin, Pa., working on Nuclear Reactors. Les started at Bettis as a Manufacturing Engineer and progressed through middle management to Consultant where he specialized in Naval Nuclear Reactor component manufacture and assembly. Les retired from Bettis in 1994. He was a member of the Peters Creek Baptist Church in Library. Les was predeceased by his beloved wife Hazel. He is survived by his son James Irvine of Florida, a son Robert Irvine of McDonald, Pa., a son Donald and his wife Linda of Springfield, VA, and his grandchildren Jamie, Tim, Sean and Victoria and a great-granddaughter Peyton. A funeral service will be Friday, January 17, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in Peters Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to David J.
