Rita M. Welsh

Rita M. Welsh, 97, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024. Born on February 4, 1927, in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond A. Laney and Edna S. Yourd. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Rita is survived by her children, John (Mary) Welsh, Maureen (Bruce) Ostrom, and Dennis (Laura) Welsh and her seven grandchildren Michael (Jill), Denny, Patrick, Brian (Jessica), Michael (Alexandra), Sarah, and Emma, and great grandchildren, Tadhg, Harper, Paige, and Talia.

Rita graduated from Saint Xavier Academy in 1944 (Latrobe, PA) and held a secretarial position with US Steel until she met her husband, John. They settled in Castle Shannon, PA, raising their family. She retired from Sears in 1995 after a lengthy career in customer service at the Service Center in McMurray, PA. Rita cherished her family, leaving behind a legacy filled with wonderful memories. Filled with love she was always fun-loving, happy, and generous with her kindness and time.

At her request, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on November 16, 2024, at St. Winifred Church, 550 Sleepy Hollow Rd., Pittsburgh, PA,15228. Arrangements entrusted to David J. Henney Funeral Home @ https://davidhenneyfuneralhome.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Winifred Church-St. Paul of the Cross Parish.
