Robert J. Opat, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, age 82, beloved husband of Lou Ann Kinol, loving father of Kristian Kinol Opat (JoEllen Marsh) and Elizabeth Opat White (Adam), son of the late Stephen and Barbara (Majhan) Opat, brother of Frances "Franny" Oddo (the late Richard), grandfather of Gwenyth Ann & Louis Adam and also his faithful companion "Kaia". Robert was retired from the US Department of Defense where he was a CPA auditor. He was an Academic Advisor at the University of Pittsburgh. He had a B.A. in Psychology from St. Vincent College. After college he enlisted in the armed services during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist Fifth Class. In 1969, he received his M. Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from Duquesne University.
