Robert Pastorius
Age 92, formerly of South Park, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023. Bob was born on February 8, 1931, to Michael and Catherine (McGrath) Pastorius, and he grew up in Carrick.
Bob was named to the Carrick High School Sports Hall of Fame for his impressive cross country and track career. He won the City of Pittsburgh Cross Country Championship for three consecutive years (1947-49). He also led his track team to win the City Track Championship and broke the record for the mile twice (1948-49). Bob attended the University of Pittsburgh on a cross country/ track scholarship.
He was a devoted husband to Evelyn (Kraus) Pastorius for 65 years. They moved from Carrick to South Park, where they raised their children and formed many friendships. Bob retired from IBEW Local Union 5 as an electrical estimator and project manager. He enjoyed playing golf, vacationing in Florida, and attending Local 5 retiree events.
Bob is survived by sister Ruth O’Brien; five children, Robert (Maureen), Bruce (Tricia), Edward (Linda), Janet (Larry) Nicoludis, and Maura (Jeff) Stipanovich; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and wife Evelyn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Rd. (RT 88), Library, PA. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 6470 Library Rd. (RT 88), South Park, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
