William S. Griesmer

William S. Griesmer, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, age 91, beloved husband for 69 years of the late Margaret M. "Gretchen" Griesmer, loving father of Christopher (the late Patricia), Keith (Dayl), Paul, Gretchen Smarto (Michael), Ann Henney (David), Charles and Jean Buttignol (David),16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. William C. and Dorothy Griesmer and his sister Nancy Hogan (Thomas). Bill had "High Hopes". He had High Hopes for his family, his career, his volunteer commitments and his friendships. Bill was a graduate of the Malvern Preparatory School, The Hun School of Princeton and Muhlenberg College. He had a 39 year career with Sears Roebuck and Co., with the latest assignments as the General Manager of Sears in Ross Park Mall and Allegheny Center. A year after retirement, he was the Regional Manager with Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Pittsburgh. Bill served as a member of the Mon-Yough Chamber of Commerce, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce and Allegheny Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Salvation Army Advisory Council, Junior Achievement, Allegheny and Ross Park Mall Associations, Northside Civic Development Council, Oakmont Yacht Club, Train Collectors Assoc. and the Elks Club. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, train collecting and boating for over 40 years at the Fox Chapel Marina and Yacht Club. His favorite days were our family gatherings with the kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whether we were at the boat, the house or at the pool. He just loved everyone being together.
