William H. "Bill" Jansen, of Bethel Park, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, age 87. Bill was the loving husband for 65 years of Mary Alice (Michener) Jansen. To Big Bill, his girls were his life. Along with their husbands, they will miss him dearly. Diane and Rusty Kerin of Finleyville, PA and Denise and Chris Reilly of Castle Shannon, PA and awaiting his arrival in heaven, baby Darlene Jansen who passed 6/21/1966. Bill was the son of the late Edna (Meyers) and Gerard "Duffy" Jansen and son-in-law of the late Henry and Loretta (Rieke) Michener. Pappy to his grandchildren, Sarah and Paul MacDonald and children Willett and Cullen, Jason and Kelsey Kerin and children Easton and Harper, Adam Kerin, Rachel Reilly and fiance Damien Benner and Dan and Nicole Reilly and brother of the late Dolores Meyer (John). Also, Big Bill will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill attended St. George School in Allentown, Pgh, PA and went on to work at Matthews International-Bronze Division in Pittsburgh for 40 years. Being a skilled woodworker took him to be a Supervisor of the Wood Pattern Shop and made him many life-long friends. His retirement took him to his beautiful country place in Darlington, PA enjoying his own woodworking shop, restoring farm tractors and learning to play the banjo. Along with Mary Alice, he entertained hundreds, having Family Reunions and Christmas in July parties then became a snow bird in Okeechobee, FL in the winter months at his brother-in-law's Joe Michener. Mr. Bill spent his last year at home and Bethel Park skilled Nursing Home. We are thankful for the care they provided him and the encouragement they gave him. Also, our thanks to Gallagher Home Health Services and to the staff at Montifiore Hospital's 10 West. Bill's legacy will be the kindness he showed to others, the patience he had with all he endured and his catholic faith, especially his devotion to St. Anthony of Padua. May he rest in peace.
