Obituary

William "Bill" Norbert Kohler, of Bethel Park, PA, on November 29, 2021, age 95, beloved husband of 66 years to the late Mary Katherine "Kay" (Shaffer), son of the late Joseph Norbert Kohler and Mae (Sharp) Kohler, loving father of Emily (Carl) Nordstrom, adoring grandfather "Pap" to Zachary and Mitchell Nordstrom, uncle of Bridget Joyanne Laughery, Daniel (Shara) Laughery and Landen Laughery, preceded in death by sisters Audella Kohler and Anna (Red) Cloherty, also survived by many treasured family and friends. Bill was born in West Mifflin (Homeville) on September 18, 1926. He graduated from Munhall High School and earned a bachelor's and two master's degrees from Duquesne University. Bill was a sergeant in World War II in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippine Islands and later, Korea. Bill retired from the Pittsburgh Public School District after teaching multiple generations of High Schoolers. He served as teacher, counselor and vice-principal in numerous schools. Bill enjoyed playing golf, snowbirding in Florida and weekending in Ligonier, but his true passion was his family. Bill leaves his family with a legacy of leadership, love and laughter. Friends received Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), Library, where a funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. www.davidhenneyfuneralhome.com
