William "Bill" Schwenning found peace and no more pain on September 19, 2026. Bill enjoyed the simple things, sitting in his mancave Sunday afternoons watching a Nascar race, tinkering with "Pap's Cruiser" a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, the same kind of car he had when he met the love of his life, Sandy, in 1958. He enjoyed Sunday invites to his daughters' houses for dinners, birthday parties, holidays and even donning an Elvis wig that he claimed look like a mop for Brent and Carly's annual Halloween party. He would spend hours talking about cars and trucks with his grandson, Michael.
Bill always made sure his family had what they needed. He would go without, so his family have. He would stop whatever he was doing just to drive to his grandson's bus stops on rainy days so they wouldn't get wet to drive them only several feet to their door. On his grandsons' Brian's 16th birthday, he gifted him a 1994 Grand Prix, the same exact car Brian was brought home from the hospital 16 years earlier. He was a professional truck driver who took pride in his work as being an owner/operator. Bill retired from Pittsburgh Fayette Express in 2008. Being used to working most of his life, Bill took on a part time job after retirement at Advance Auto delivering car parts, where he met George, who would become one of his best friends. He was a member of the South Park Lions Club for 25 years.
Bill was born on October 28, 1938 to Bill and Louise (Vogt) Schwenning. He is preceded in death by his sister Gloria Manka (Wolfe) and brothers Ron, Albert and Edward. He leaves behind a sister Donna Swet and Jimmy Schwenning (Kathy). He met the love of his life Sandy (Smerecky) in 1958. They married on October 24, 1959. Together, they built a beautiful family of two loving daughters, Karen (Ron) Feitl and Kathy (Ken) Lang, five grandchildren Brian ( Steni Aranda) Feitl, Brad Feitl, Brent (fiance, Carly Cygrymus) Feitl, Michael (Jamie) Lang and Alexandria Lang (Brandon Sciulli) and great grandpappy to Ryder.
Bill loved his family deeply, always talking about his amazing grandchildren. "I'm so proud of them" was a daily statement. He loved the 2 men who he would call his son-in-laws. The kids will always remember dollar days and pap pulling up to each house on Fridays handing each grandchild their dollar. For years he did this. On April 12th, 2001, he lost his true love, Sandy. They are reunited now after having missed her all of these years. He was wishing and hoping to attend Brent and Carly's wedding on October 24, his 67th wedding anniversary and Karen and Ron's 34th wedding anniversary. Three generations celebrating wedding vows on the same date but years apart. God had a different plan. He will celebrate the wedding with Sandy as they hold hands once again. He leaves behind two neighbors who became dear friends, Joe Pelan and Bill Eiben to mourn him and his dearest longest friend and brother in law Jerry Smerecky with 69 years of friendship. They never missed a Saturday morning phone call. Bill leaves countless nieces and nephews that he loved.
